Speaker, Author, Entrepreneur

May the work I’ve done, speak for me…

For over 18 years, Trina Dawkins Patterson has encouraged, educated, and empowered women and youth across the Unites States and Africa as a keynote speaker and workshop facilitator. Trina genuinely desires to mentor and encourage others–especially youth. She believes a kinder, more compassionate world begins with children. For this reason, she created and published her book, A Tale of Two Cookies, the first in a series of 3 books designed with a message of kindness and acceptance. Reaching out, touching others, and helping to build self-esteem and self-confidence are endeavors Trina strives for through her business, The Cookie Movement, LLC.

Cookies (noun) cook•eez: The essence of a ‘whole’ person. Your mind, body, and soul—gifts, talents and individuality. If not nurtured, you may not rise. If not valued, you may lose your identity and flavor for living. If recklessly given away you may become broken, thus decreasing the possibility of fulfilling your life’s purpose.

Trina is a native of Flint, Michigan, but has lived in a number of cities across the country while working in corporate America and the nonprofit sector. Even as a business professional, Trina found time to provide mentorship and guidance to women and children living in battered women’s shelters and others who faced personal challenges. She still maintains a close relationship with her “little sister” who at age 11 lost her biological mother more than 20 years ago. This speaks to the genuine compassion Trina has for those in need and her desire to encourage and support others.

“My prayer is ‘Lord, please don’t let me leave this earth with my purpose unfulfilled’. I know that my purpose, at least in part, is to encourage others and serve as a catalyst for personal growth and empowerment. I just want to make a difference in someone’s life.”

While connected with like-minded professionals in Dallas, Texas, Trina and her husband visited colleges and universities, facilitating professional development workshops for business students who would soon be entering corporate America. Trina soon realized she was meant to do something different with her life and began the journey, enriching the lives of women and youth through keynote presentations and workshops. Trina has the natural ability to engage audience members. With candid sharing of her own experiences, people connect with her on a personal level.

Trina holds her B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Administration from Central Michigan University. She also earned her Montessori Teaching Certification from Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center. Trina currently lives in Minnesota with her husband and two sons.
